Bissell Crosswave All-in-One Vacuum Mop
Cleans both wet and dry surfaces efficiently
The Bissell CrossWave combines vacuuming and washing to make cleaning faster and more effective on various surfaces. Its innovative two-tank technology ensures that clean water is always used for washing.
  • Weight: The vacuum can feel heavy and cumbersome during use, making it less maneuverable.
  • Water Capacity: The water tank empties quickly, especially when using the steam function.
  • Steam Temperature: The steam produced is warm rather than hot, which may not be sufficient for thorough sanitization.
  • Limited Reach: It struggles to clean under low furniture, requiring users to move items around for effective cleaning.
  • Delivery Time: Some users experienced delays in shipping, which could be frustrating.

Overall, the BISSELL® CrossWave® HydroSteam™ Deluxe Wet Dry Vac is a valuable tool for regular maintenance and cleaning. Despite some drawbacks, it effectively tackles daily messes and simplifies the cleaning process.

    1. The vacuum is quite heavy and difficult to maneuver.
    2. The water empties quickly, especially when using the “steam” mode.
    3. The steam mode is not what I expected; you barely see a bit of mist for about 10 seconds, and I might be exaggerating.
    4. It’s not suitable for cleaning under furniture; it just won’t fit, so you have to move everything.
    5. It took 13 days to arrive.

I’m giving this product 4 stars for several reasons. I replaced my PetPro with this all-in-one unit that includes a steamer for sanitizing my floors, as the suction power of the PetPro had diminished. I tested it on my light-colored hardwood floors and my large white and light grey area rug in the family room, where my Husky frequently tracks in dirt. This cleaner effectively picked up all the dog hair from both the hardwood and the rug, and I was able to remove dirty paw prints from the rug after a few passes. While it did leave the rug damp, it wasn’t soaked when I finished.

I also tried the steam function, which is why I’m giving it 4 stars. The steam is warm, not hot, so it doesn’t thoroughly sanitize the floor or tackle stubborn, dried-on messes. However, it does have stronger suction than my PetPro, even when that model was new. These machines are best for surface cleaning rather than deep cleaning rugs. It cleans hardwood as well as a mop does after sweeping or vacuuming. If you want to deep clean rugs, you’ll need a dedicated deep cleaner for that purpose; I still have mine from when I had carpet.

You cannot use this as your primary vacuum since it lacks extensions like a regular vacuum and has about two-thirds the suction power of a standard vacuum. Regular vacuums allow you to adjust the rollers for different flooring types, which this unit does not. There doesn’t seem to be a product on the market that combines a regular vacuum with a deep steam cleaner, so think of this as an additional tool for light cleaning. I steam clean my rugs monthly for a deeper clean.

I also purchased a Tineco S7 to compare side by side, but I’m returning it because it didn’t perform any better than this Bissell, including the steam function. While the Tineco may be slightly better constructed, it’s not worth the higher price. As for durability, who knows how long it will last—most products seem to fail shortly after the warranty expires.

One last note: this cleaner may leave streaks on hardwood floors, especially darker ones. I noticed some streaking on my light floors, so I went over them again without solution to remove the residual water. While the solution did leave a slight residue, I was fortunate that the water/solution bottle from my PetPro fits this model. Using just water, I eliminated the residue and avoided streaks, suggesting the streaking issue might relate to the cleaning solution.

In summary, this is a solid option for daily cleaning around the house, while a regular vacuum should be used weekly for deep cleaning. For a thorough clean of your rugs, a dedicated steam cleaner is recommended. I do wish the steam function was hotter!

If you’re considering getting this machine, do it! I clean regularly, mopping twice a week and sweeping every other day, but my tile floor never felt completely clean. Although my floors always looked tidy, the first time I used this machine, I was blown away by how much it picked up. I even sent my husband a picture of the dirty water it collected! I’ve already recommended it to at least three friends. Now, I’m actually excited to clean my floors, and the results are incredible. Cleaning the machine afterward takes about 10 minutes. I can only share positive things about its performance.

    ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Excellent Daily Cleaning Companion!
Having previously worked in the cleaning industry, I have a solid understanding of true cleanliness, and this vacuum really impresses! It’s an outstanding tool for everyday tasks. Lightweight, efficient, and easy to maneuver, it keeps my floors looking pristine with little effort.
Although it may not be ideal for deep cleaning or reaching tight spots like under beds or in deep corners, it performs admirably overall. I wouldn’t depend on it for an extensive spring clean, but it’s absolutely perfect for regular upkeep. I’m extremely pleased with this purchase!

Update 12/09/23: I’ve added pictures of our tile floors, and they look better with each cleaning! With a dog, four cats, and four humans in our home, we deal with a lot of fur, kitty litter, and the usual messes! I’ve been using ‘It’s Naturally Clean’ floor cleaner on all our flooring types, and it works wonders! Just a small capful in the clean water reservoir does the trick! I found it on EWG’s website, which provides reliable, unbiased info on sustainable and safe products.

I still use the Hydrosteam every two weeks and have reduced my tank refills to 2-3, along with double the empty bin refills. After each use, I run the automatic clean function twice and thoroughly rinse everything, including the roller head, under hot water in my laundry sink. I did notice some kitty litter buildup in the suction tube, which is expected since I don’t vacuum or sweep before using this machine. I flushed it with hot water from the dirty water reservoir until it ran clear, and I’ve had no issues since, but I’ll update if anything changes 👍🏽 I also tested it at a friend’s house with dark hardwood floors throughout her 3900 sq. ft. home—every speck shows! She was impressed and decided to buy one after seeing how well it worked without streaking. We used the hard floor setting on her wood and the steam function on her tiled bathroom and laundry area. After cleaning the first section, her shoes squeaked on those areas, which made her realize what “squeaky clean” really means! She’s also getting the Naturally It’s Clean Floor Cleaner for her new Bissell Hydrosteam! End Update

This cleaning device is nearly perfect! In our household of four, with four cats, we deal with lots of fur, food particles, and litter tracking. I do a full clean of our 3000 sq. ft. home every two weeks, with more than half being tile and the rest high-pile carpet.

I initially thought I’d still need to use my Dyson vacuum for edges and corners, but thankfully, that’s not necessary! I’m genuinely amazed by the engineering behind this tool and its suction power combined with steam mopping capabilities!

Our ceramic tile has wide, deep grout from 2003 and was professionally cleaned when we moved in in 2012. Over the years, discoloration built up in heavily used areas, especially around the kitchen sink, dishwasher, and stove. This vac mop made a noticeable difference after the first use—I could see the grime being sucked up! I’ve used it twice so far and couldn’t be happier with my purchase.

I’ve owned several Bissell products over the years, including the Big Green Carpet Cleaner (which I gave to my mom) and various steam mops and carpet cleaners. While all have been great, my experience with the steam mop didn’t quite meet my Bissell standards, as it started leaking a few months after I bought it used. My assumption is that you often get what you pay for, and that applies to Bissell too.

I keep the Hydrosteam vac in the garage near an outlet for the self-cleaning function, which is quite loud compared to the actual cleaning. The self-cleaning capability is excellent, and I follow the instructions for cleaning and storage, allowing everything to dry for several days before reassembling.

This vac mop operates much quieter than I expected and is quieter than my Dyson, which is a significant plus for me and the cats, even if they still dislike it! I look forward to a future where machines are nearly silent!

The drawbacks are minor and certainly don’t warrant a return for a device that saves me time and effort. My cons are:1) I wish the cord was a bit longer and that the cord holder clip was tighter. I had some issues with the cord coming loose during my first use, but was more careful during the second.2) The unit is lightweight and maneuverable, but I can’t use it around one toilet and the back of others. I’ve just adjusted my cleaning routine for those areas.3) I wish the dirty water tank had a larger capacity. Both tanks could benefit from being bigger, but the clean water tank allows for two passes before needing to empty the dirty tank. I tend to hold the trigger most of the time, so a trigger lock would be a nice addition. I initially dumped the dirty water tank into the toilet but found it messier, so I now use the kitchen sink with a garbage disposer instead. I rinse the dirty water tank after each dump, while the filter stays relatively clean until I finish cleaning.

For over half of my 3000 sq. ft. home, I empty and refill the clean water tank 3-4 times and the dirty water tank 6-8 times while using the steam setting. I previously used Bissell’s Natural Pet Floor Cleaner for my Crosswave machine but am planning to try a truly ‘natural’ floor cleaner next time and will update my review based on that experience, along with pictures of my tile floors. I was eager to share my review because this product is fantastic, and I’m genuinely impressed overall! One last point: I do need to pass over some dried-on messes, usually food or pet-related, but this unit still saves me so much time and energy. I’ve found the best way to tackle these tougher spots is to hold the trigger while letting the cleaning solution soak, then clean around it, coming back as necessary. I also clean these areas from different angles based on the tile grooves.

I’ve recommended this cleaning unit to everyone I know because it’s an invaluable addition to my cleaning routine, providing a deep, thorough clean with ease of use, and it mostly cleans itself, especially the brush roll, which is usually the most time-consuming part if done manually.
