Unmatched Sound: A Review of Bose QuietComfort True Wireless Earbuds

The best choice for me, excellent—get it without hesitation!

I’m honestly surprised by some of the negative feedback. It just goes to show that not everyone understands electronics. These are truly the BEST earbuds I’ve ever used; they stay securely in my ears and deliver exceptional sound quality. I especially wear them while riding my motorcycle, and I can’t tell you how many others have fallen out during rides, but these stay put like glue. The battery life is impressive, holding a good charge and recharging in a reasonable time. I’d give them 5 stars, or even 6 if I could!

I want to start by saying that the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds 2024 are by far the most comfortable I’ve ever used. The sound quality is excellent (I’m not an audiophile, so this is purely an objective view), and the noise cancellation exceeds my expectations. However, I’ve been struggling with a significant design flaw.

While most reviews praise these earbuds, they often mention connection issues only in passing. Many user reviews downplay the problem, noting brief disconnections on one side, which is a common glitch with various brands. What they overlook is that most reviewers are using the earbuds during activities like working out or walking. When completely still (like lying down or reclining), the Bose Buds consistently lose connection. I even attempted to disable the in-ear detection, but Bose doesn’t provide an option for that. I tried covering the in-ear sensor with tape, yet the earbuds still seem to require some movement to maintain connectivity.

I’m currently awaiting my third replacement pair and sincerely hope that Bose addresses this issue with a future firmware update.

— Update –I submitted the following to Bose in an effort to resolve the issue:
“I am now on my fourth pair of Bose QuietComfort Earbuds (gen 2) 2024. This latest replacement has been the best functioning so far, but the main problem persists. Through testing, I believe I’ve found a clue to the ongoing issue. I primarily use these earbuds for meditation, which involves keeping my head very still. It seems the buds are engineered to detect movement, and a lack of it causes one or both to disconnect intermittently. During several listening sessions, I made a point to move my head every ten minutes, and I managed to listen without interruptions for extended periods. However, having to focus on moving my head is not a practical solution.”

After reviewing my query, I was informed that this is indeed part of their design, with no solutions available. The fact that many others have mentioned this problem in YouTube reviews and online comments was not acknowledged. My conclusion is that Bose is now relying on its past reputation, and I would advise against purchasing their products. For these reasons, I’ve had to lower my rating to one star (zero isn’t an option here).

Hello, I hope this review helps you. I purchased the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds after my sport earbuds developed a defect due to my own mishandling after about five years. I was able to exchange the sport earbuds through Bose’s refurbished program. To pass the time while waiting for the “new” sport earbuds to arrive, I decided to order the QCE.

Having read several reviews beforehand, I wanted to form my own opinion. My conclusion: the QCE is now a proud addition to my Bose family. Here’s why: Bose has successfully enhanced the listening experience, thanks to both technological advancements and the QCE app, specifically designed for these earbuds. The app stands out with its user-friendly interface, particularly the 5-band EQ that allows for personalized sound adjustments.

The noise-canceling feature is truly impressive. As soon as I take the earbuds out of my sports bag and put them on, I immediately notice a significant reduction in surrounding noise. From the moment my playlist starts, I experience complete sound isolation, allowing me to focus entirely on myself and my workout. It’s absolutely perfect.

This same functionality is equally effective while riding the tram; it effortlessly blocks out everything around me, enabling me to concentrate solely on my music. However, if I prefer to stay aware of my surroundings, I can easily turn off the noise cancellation or switch to Aware Mode, which amplifies external sounds.

I am genuinely delighted with my purchase of these earbuds and can wholeheartedly recommend them.

These earbuds are quite challenging to use. Despite my hopes of figuring them out over the past few weeks, they remain difficult to manage.
PROS

• The Silence feature is outstanding.
  CONS
• They frequently fall out of my ears.
• When I try to adjust them to stay in place, I get overwhelmed by the off, silence, and aware options. This is intended as a feature, but it can be distracting.
• The app is extremely slow; it takes about three minutes to connect to my device, even though I’ve already been listening to a podcast.
• After around two hours, my ears start to ache due to the poor fit. In comparison, my over-the-ear Bose headphones only cause discomfort after about three hours.
  CAVEAT
  I have a medical condition that leads to painful “sound flooding,” making speed essential for my needs. I need to quickly toggle between silence and unsilence when someone speaks to me, but the complicated options often leave me frustrated, leading me to just take them out. This is a frequent issue that affects my nervous system, especially since I have ME/CFS, which means many people don’t understand the severity of my sound sensitivities.
  I’m deducting only one star, as these issues may not be as problematic for most users. Again, the Silence feature works exceptionally well, and I appreciate that I can wear these in situations where my over-the-ear headphones might draw unwanted attention.
